I am putting together an opt-in email listing which will eventually contain thousands of email addresses. I will be sending weekly attachments to all of them.

Not through Yahoo. They will cancel your account. The maximum is 100 with Yahoo.
There may be a limit on how many emails you can put in the blind carbon copy (BCC) list, a character limit if nothing else. One possibility is to use Yahoo Groups, I know someone who uses them and there are ways to send an email into the system and have it distributed among the entire group, no matter how large it is. However this only works for Yahoo users who have joined your group, and you would probably not be able to send to other email addresses. Most websites probably use their own programs to do this kind of thing, like PHP or Java or whatever they have running on their servers, but if you wanted to use that kind of system you would have to either learn PHP/Java or get someone who already knows how to do server-side programming. Sorry, but I don't know any EASY way of doing what you want to do.
If you can set them up in group lists so you only need to use one entry for multiple email addresses you may be able to. But yahoo has a restriction as to how many per email it allows.
Try looking up in the mail help for setting up group emails it may have a method with instructions.
Yes. You need special software to do that. It is being used by a lot of people, especially spammers. You must, however enter the e-mail address of all of the people. The message is entered only once.
