1mon ago I shipped something to Belgium. UPS just asked me to clarify the contents. Do I have to email back?
Here are the details. I sent an item to someone in Belgium one month ago. The package successfully arrived roughly 3 - 4 weeks ago. After receiving positive confirmation of the delivery, I figured everything was okay until today. I just received an email from UPS Belgium asking for me to clarify the contents of the package. Here is my quesion: am I required to respond back to the email or is this something I can opt out of? I have never experience this so any insight is much appreciated. Thanks!
***Additional Details****
After reading a few responses, I wanted to provide additional clarification. The items already passed through customs and my friend has been using the items for 3 - 4 weeks! this is after the delivery has already occured.

Just tell them what it it, they may have had some worry based on the weight or if it shifted and makes noises while carrying. No biggie, as long as you followed the rules…

It may have something to do with Belgium customs. You would have the read the fine print in the contract you agreed to when using UPS to ship the item. They may have the right to sue you for not answering especially is Belgium is requiring them to pay more fees.

This is DEFINITELY a customs issue - they need to know that you are not shipping something that you CANNOT send via mail in Belgium (or ANY country).
I'm kind of surprised the package was even sent - usually it won't even leave YOUR country without passing customs…
As for responding - if you want it to be delivered, then you MUST respond. Otherwise, they will either send it back (at your expense) - or possibly even DISPOSE of it!!!
When it comes to Customs - it's ALWAYS best NOT to give them a reason to ***** you over ;););););)
